To strengthen political cooperation and support the ratification of the <b>Water Charter adopted in 2019<\/b>, VBA and its partners launched the creation of a transitional network of parliamentarians. This network will pave the way for the establishment of the <b>Inter-Parliamentary Committee (IPC)<\/b>, scheduled for 2027.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/gwpo-gwp.org\/afrique-ouest\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/17\/2026\/04\/reward_rrp_bko_1-1.jpg\" height=\"300\" width=\"640\"><\/p>\n<p>The workshop aims to&nbsp;:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Validate the founding texts of the Parliamentarians\u2019 Network;<\/li>\n<li>Share governance challenges and key provisions of the Water Charter;<\/li>\n<li>Define a roadmap for setting up the network and the future IPC;<\/li>\n<li>Identify capacity-building needs for parliamentarians.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Inclusive and participatory approach<\/b><\/p>\n<p>The workshop brought together <b>25 participants<\/b>, including parliamentarians from the six member states, VBA representatives, and GWP-WA. Through presentations, debates, and group sessions, participants amended and validated the <b>statutes and internal regulations<\/b> of the Network, developed a <b>capacity-building plan<\/b>, and agreed on a <b>clear roadmap<\/b> for the transition toward the IPC.<\/p>\n<p><b><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/gwpo-gwp.org\/afrique-ouest\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/17\/2026\/04\/reward_rrp_bko_2-1.jpg\" height=\"300\" width=\"640\"><\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>Principaux r\u00e9sultats<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Validation of the founding texts<\/b> of the Volta Basin Parliamentarians\u2019 Network;<\/li>\n<li><b>Establishment of a provisional presidium<\/b> to lead post-workshop activities;<\/li>\n<li>Adoption of a <b>three-year action plan (2026\u20132028)<\/b> to guide the transition process;<\/li>\n<li>Commitment from parliamentarians to advocate for the ratification of the Water Charter in all member states.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/gwpo-gwp.org\/afrique-ouest\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/17\/2026\/04\/reward_rrp_bko_4-1.jpg\" height=\"300\" width=\"640\"><\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>A milestone for regional water governance<\/b><\/p>\n<p>This workshop marks a decisive step toward inclusive and coordinated governance of water resources in the Volta Basin. By strengthening the role of parliamentarians, VBA and GWP-WA are laying the foundation for a governance framework that promotes resilience and sustainable development across the
