It plays a vital role in agriculture, hydropower generation, fishing, and biodiversity, but faces major challenges: <b>resource degradation, climate change impacts, demographic pressures, and weak governance<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p>In his address, the <b>GWP-WA<\/b> representative emphasized the importance of this process to \u201c<b>identify major pressures, prioritize transboundary issues, and propose concerted responses based on reliable data<\/b>.\u201d He highlighted the complementarity of partners: OSS provides scientific expertise for the TDA, while GWP-WA facilitates stakeholder engagement and translates recommendations into concrete actions.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/gwpo-gwp.org\/afrique-ouest\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/17\/2026\/04\/iree_oss_lome_part-1.jpg\" height=\"315\" width=\"640\"><\/p>\n<p>The project, funded by the <b>Global Environment Facility (GEF)<\/b>, aims to promote <b>best practices related to water, ecosystems, and climate change adaptation<\/b>, with an inclusive approach integrating gender, youth, and local communities.<\/p>\n<p><b>Expected outcomes<\/b>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A shared understanding of the objectives and methodology of the TDA\/SAP process;<\/li>\n<li>A common commitment from stakeholders to implement the process;<\/li>\n<li>Validation of priorities and key steps;<\/li>\n<li>Establishment of a transboundary collaboration framework.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This workshop marks the start of a regional dynamic to make the Mono basin a <b>model of successful transboundary cooperation and climate resilience in West Africa<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\"
