The Volta Basin Authority (VBA) organized from 26 to 29 March 2019 in Loumbila, Burkina Faso, a training seminar to facilitate the ratification and implementation of the Volta Basin Water Charter.<\/p>\n
The meeting brought together the Burkinabe authorities of the water sector; National Focal Points and legal experts from VBA member countries; the ECOWAS Water Resources Coordination Centre (CEMR); Global Water Partnership West Africa (GWP-WA); the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN); the Executive Directorate of the VBA and the Consultant.<\/p>\n
The exchanges highlighted the links between the Helsinki Convention and the VBA texts, in particular the coherence between these instruments.<\/p>\n
The opening ceremony was presided over by the Minister of Water and Sanitation represented by Mr. TRAORE Serge, Director General of Water Resources of Burkina Faso.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
In December 2018, the draft Volta Basin Water Charter was validated by the main stakeholders of the basin at a regional workshop attended by the Togolese Water Sector Authorities, VBA and GEF national focal points from VBA member countries, technical and financial
