Participants were drawn from the water and related sectors including Ministries, Departments and Agencies, the academia and the private sector. These included representatives from the Pentecost University, Ministry of Roads and Highways, Ghana Fire service, Forestry Commission, Ministry of Tourism, graphic, modern Ghana online, Water Resources Commission, Ghana Customs Services, Minerals Commission, Ministry of foreign affairs and Ministry of Finance. Also present were the Director-General and Deputy Director-General of CSIR, the Deputy Chief of Staff at the Presidency as well as Dr. Leticia Obeng, a former director of the CSIR Aquatic Department. In all, about 70 participants were present. <\/p>\n
The chairman for the program was Dr. Victor Kwame Agyeman, the Director-General of the CSIR.<\/p>\n
The purpose of the meeting was to share with stakeholders reports on the level of water pollution in Ghana and its effects on other aspects of our national life.<\/p>\n
Five presentations were made at the seminar by senior researchers of the council under themes like Forest, Water and People ; Water and Food security, among others.<\/p>\n
By the end of the workshop, stakeholders strongly recommended the need for a multi-stakeholder approach to dealing with the issues related to water pollution, especially in the area of illegal mining, to help save the country from becoming water stressed.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
