Development challenges in the Caribbean will ultimately be inherited by the region\u2019s youth. Young people are solution providers and have ideas and energy to act for sustainable development. GWP-C therefore sees the importance of empowering young people to be agents of change in contributing to and advancing Caribbean water security.<\/p>\n<p>Through GWP-C\u2019s work and interaction with its youth partners and young people within water and related sectors, it is evident that they often do not have access to funding or resources to easily advance their project ideas. Additionally, they do not always have easy access to technical support to turn their ideas into fully workable projects.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;It is, therefore, with great pleasure that GWP-C announces the launch of its 2024 <b>\u201cYoung Caribbean Water Entrepreneurs Shark Tank Competition.\u201d<\/b> This is the fourth time the competition is being held, the first being in 2019, the second in 2020 and the third in 2022.<\/p>\n<h4>&nbsp;<\/h4>\n<h4><b>Enter the 2022 Young Caribbean Water Entrepreneurs Shark Tank Competition<\/b><\/h4>\n<p>The <i>Young Caribbean Water Entrepreneurs Shark Tank Competition&nbsp;<\/i>seeks to provide a unique opportunity for young persons from the Caribbean, aged <strong>18 to 34 years<\/strong>, to pitch <strong>innovative<\/strong> and <strong>impactful<\/strong> water-related project ideas to support better water resources management in their community, country or the Caribbean region.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"GWP-C 2024 Shark Tank Project Themes\" src=\"https:\/\/gwpo-gwp.org\/caribbean\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2026\/04\/2024-shark-tank-project-themes-1.png\" height=\"300\" width=\"640\"><\/p>\n<p>Seed funding of <b>US$4,000 <\/b>will be awarded for the best project\/idea under the following themes:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Water and Agriculture<\/li>\n<li>Water and Climate<\/li>\n<li>Water and Health<\/li>\n<li>Water and Energy<\/li>\n<li>Water and Tourism<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4><b>Entry Requirements and Competition Timeline<\/b><\/h4>\n<p><em><strong>Who can enter the \u201cYoung Caribbean Water Entrepreneurs Shark Tank Competition?\u201d<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>You must be a <b><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Caribbean national<\/span><\/b> <b>residing in the Caribbean region<\/b>, aged 18 \u2013 34 years with an innovative project\/idea under any of the following themes:<\/p>\n<p><b><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Category 1:<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Water and Agriculture<\/li>\n<li>Water and Climate<\/li>\n<li>Water and Health<\/li>\n<li>Water and Energy<\/li>\n<li>Water and Tourism<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4><b><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"GWP-C 2024 Shark Tank App Process\" src=\"https:\/\/gwpo-gwp.org\/caribbean\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2026\/04\/2024-shark-tank-app-process-1.png\" height=\"300\" width=\"640\"><\/b><\/h4>\n<h4>&nbsp;<\/h4>\n<h4><b>PHASE 1: Enter by Submitting Your Water-Related Project Proposal&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/b><\/h4>\n<p>The competition has officially been launched today, <b>March 1st, 2024<\/b>, and the deadline for submitting your application\/project proposal is <b>August 4th, 2024<\/b>, at midnight Atlantic Standard Time (AST). <b>Entrants must<\/b> complete and submit the competition\u2019s online project proposal template here by <b>August 4<sup>th<\/sup>, 2024<\/b>: <a title=\"2024 Shark Tank - Online Project Proposal\" href=\"https:\/\/forms.gle\/z7aoqfP6gX3mbth67\" target=\"_blank\">Online Project Proposal<\/a><b><br><\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>Please note:<\/b> All project proposals must be submitted in English, and a maximum of two (2) persons can apply for a submission together.<\/p>\n<h4>&nbsp;<\/h4>\n<h4><b>PHASE 2: Review of Project Proposals<\/b><\/h4>\n<p>All submitted project proposals will be reviewed by the competition\u2019s group of sharks.<\/p>\n<p class=\"xmsonormal\">Each of the selected finalists will receive feedback, critiques and advice on their proposals to prepare to pitch their water-related project\/idea to the sharks in the competition&#8217;s finals.<\/p>\n<p class=\"xmsonormal\"><b>Proposals will be assessed based on various areas (but not limited to):<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Innovation<\/li>\n<li>Water Resources Management Relevance<\/li>\n<li>Practicality of Implementation<\/li>\n<li>Projected Impact&nbsp;<\/li>\n<li>Financial Feasibility<\/li>\n<li>Project Sustainability&nbsp;<\/li>\n<li>Stakeholder Engagement and Partnerships<\/li>\n<li>Business\/Industry Analysis<\/li>\n<li>Market Research<\/li>\n<li>Competitive Analysis<\/li>\n<li>Gender Mainstreaming<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4><b>PHASE 3 (Final Stage): The 7-10 Minutes Pitch<\/b><\/h4>\n<p>Finalists in the competition will compete for the prize of <b>US$4,000.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>All finalists will be required to deliver a 7-10 minutes pitch of their project before a panel of sharks\/judges. Finalists will be provided with relevant guidelines\/criteria at least two (2) weeks before their final pitch to the sharks. The pitches to the panel of sharks will take place virtually.<\/p>\n<h4>&nbsp;<\/h4>\n<h4><b>The Sharks\/Judges<\/b><\/h4>\n<p>The sharks\/judges will include a mix of professionals\/practitioners such as:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Private Sector Representatives<\/li>\n<li>Water Specialists<\/li>\n<li>Wastewater Management Specialists<\/li>\n<li>Entrepreneurs<\/li>\n<li>Innovation Strategists<\/li>\n<li>Business Development Specialists<\/li>\n<li>Youth Representatives<\/li>\n<li>Marketing Specialists<\/li>\n<li>Government Officials<\/li>\n<li>Water and Environmental Specialists<\/li>\n<li>Other Practitioners (in fields related to the competition\u2019s themes)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4><b>Contact Us<\/b><\/h4>\n<p>For any questions about the competition, please e-mail the GWP-C Secretariat at <a href=\"mailto:info@gwp-caribbean.org\">info@gwp-caribbean.org<\/a>.
