The Global Water Partnership-Caribbean (GWP-C) wishes to again acknowledge that the WWD 2022 Caribbean Groundwater TikTok Challenge was done in collaboration with Caribbean WaterNet (Cap-Net), the Caribbean Environment Programme and the Cartagena Convention Secretariat, the Integrating Water, Land and Ecosystems Management in Caribbean Small Island Developing States (IWEco Project), the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) and the Caribbean Public Health Agency (CARPHA). GWP-C thanks these organisations for their support and contributions to some of the awards in the competition.<\/p>\n

World Water Day (WWD)<\/b> is a United Nations observance day celebrated every year on 22nd<\/sup> March. The WWD 2022 theme is \u201cGroundwater: Making the Invisible Visible.\u201d<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

The reality is that groundwater (invisible) has a significant (visible) impact everywhere, particularly when we consider that this natural resource is reliable and contributes to meeting water supply needs of an increasing population (E.g. provision of drinking water in cities and rural areas, irrigation of crops to grow our food, industry processes, a source of recharge for rivers etc.).   <\/p>\n

Groundwater is a vital water supply for humanity yet many persons (especially those who are not part of water\/environmental related sectors) may not understand what it is and its importance.  <\/b><\/p>\n
