{"id":2278,"date":"2021-06-10T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2021-06-09T23:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/gwpo-gwp.org\/caribbean\/news\/gwp-c-water-academy-for-youth-gwp-c-way-applications-are-open\/"},"modified":"2026-05-08T14:59:39","modified_gmt":"2026-05-08T13:59:39","slug":"gwp-c-water-academy-for-youth-gwp-c-way-applications-are-open","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/gwpo-gwp.org\/caribbean\/news\/gwp-c-water-academy-for-youth-gwp-c-way-applications-are-open\/","title":{"rendered":"GWP-C Water Academy for Youth (GWP-C WAY) \u2013 Applications are open!"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Global Water Partnership-Caribbean (GWP-C) sees the value in creating opportunities and initiatives that support <b>\u201cyouth-led sustainable solutions to Caribbean water issues.\u201d <\/b>With the aim of tapping into the potential of the region\u2019s youth, GWP-C is pleased to announce the launch of the first-ever <b>GWP-C Water Academy for Youth (GWP-C WAY)<\/b> for the 2021 Cohort.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/OVydksQe22A\" frameborder=\"0\" title=\"YouTube video player\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" allowfullscreen=\"\" data-gtm-yt-inspected-10=\"true\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><strong>GWP-C WAY<\/strong> is a carefully crafted July-September (3-month) programme for <strong>twenty (20) Caribbean young leaders and professionals<\/strong>. These young persons should have a keen interest in better understanding water-related problems, as well as formulating and implementing possible sustainable and innovative solutions to water-related Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) challenges. Particularly those that affect their immediate (local) environment, through the application of effective water management and practical skills sharing. &nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>At the end of the programme, the two (2) top alumni {Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) Ambassadors} will be further engaged by placing them as short-term fellows within the GWP-C partnership network.<\/p>\n<p><b>The Objectives of the GWP-C WAY are to:<br><\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Provide<\/b> capacity-building opportunities to empower young Caribbean leaders to influence holistic positive action to address IWRM related challenges in a Caribbean context.<\/li>\n<li><b>Support <\/b>young Caribbean leaders through theme-specific pairing (mentoring) with our regional partners to address local water-related issues.<\/li>\n<li><b>Establish<\/b> at least one (1) youth IWRM focal point per participating country.<\/li>\n<li><b>Integrate<\/b> into our network two (2) GWP-C WAY IWRM Ambassadors and the GWP-C National Youth IWRM Focal Points to represent youth at national and regional activities and to contribute to the successful implementation of GWP-C\u2019s regional and country-level activities.<\/li>\n<li><b>Promote <\/b>action by youth through evidence-based interventions, utilising the knowledge and problem-solving skills acquired from the GWP-C WAY.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Eligibility<\/b><\/p>\n<p>We encourage participation from persons who fit the following criteria:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Young person from the Caribbean between 20 and 35 years old at the time of application.<\/li>\n<li>Education attained should be an associate degree or higher.<\/li>\n<li>Young Caribbean leaders with an interest in water-related issues.<\/li>\n<li>Proficient and able to effectively communicate in English.<\/li>\n<li>Citizen and resident of a Caribbean\/CARICOM country.<\/li>\n<li>Committed to the completion of the programme and its expected outputs.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Apply Now!<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Interested candidates for the 2021 GWP-C WAY must apply using this online form: <a href=\"https:\/\/forms.gle\/BxpD5KRk5jAGxsJp8\">https:\/\/forms.gle\/BxpD5KRk5jAGxsJp8<\/a> by <strong>June 23<sup>rd<\/sup>, 2021 at midnight Atlantic Standard Time (AST).<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Successful candidates will be notified one (1) week prior to the start of the Academy.
