Short project description:<\/strong> The Danube Floodplain project addressed increasing flood risks in the Danube River Basin while supporting biodiversity conservation and sustainable water management. In response to recurrent catastrophic floods and the requirements of the EU Floods Directive, the project promoted coordinated, transnational approaches that do not conflict with Water Framework Directive objectives. By focusing on floodplain restoration, natural water retention measures, and the integration of green and grey infrastructure, the project strengthened knowledge and cooperation among Danube countries to enhance flood resilience and ecosystem services for local communities.\u202f<\/p>\n\n\n\n
