The event brought together young professionals to explore global water challenges, climate change, and innovative approaches to sustainable water management aligned with the <strong>2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A total of <strong>46 MSc and PhD students from 18 countries<\/strong> participated, representing disciplines such as natural sciences, engineering, geography, landscape ecology, and international relations. This interdisciplinary mix fostered collaboration and knowledge exchange across different perspectives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Thematic Focus<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The curriculum presented current global and regional water issues and explored innovative solutions. Guest lecturers from organizations and institutions including <a href=\"https:\/\/www.unesco.org\/en\">UNESCO WWAP<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ecrr.org\/\">ECRR<\/a>, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uni-lj.si\/en\/university\">University of Ljubljana<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.joshswaterjobs.com\/\">Josh\u2019s Water Jobs<\/a>, and GWP contributed diverse perspectives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Key topics included:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/waterknowledgehub.org\/learn\/iwrm-tools\">Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM)<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>International water governance and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Green infrastructure and nature-based solutions<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ecosystem-based approaches and river restoration<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>River basin management and integrated urban water management<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Transboundary water cooperation and participatory approaches<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Conflict resolution techniques in water governance<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Interactive sessions and case studies allowed participants to step into the roles of various stakeholders, identify challenges, and develop innovative project ideas. A strong focus was placed on <strong>climate change<\/strong>, highlighting how global analyses influence national and regional planning and decision-making.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Youth Voices \u2192 Policy Choices<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>A central component of the Summer School was the <strong>Dialogue for Water and Climate Change Policies between youth and decision-makers<\/strong>, titled <em>Youth Voices \u2192 Policy Choices<\/em>. Supported by the Erasmus+ programme, the dialogue created an interactive platform for exchange between young water advocates and policy representatives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Participants presented their ideas and recommendations to decision-makers from ministries, international organizations, and regional initiatives. Among the decision-makers participating in the dialogue were represented: <strong>Ms. Liliana Rastocka <a href=\"https:\/\/www.minzp.sk\/en\/about-us\/\">(Slovak Ministry of Environment<\/a>), Mr. Mitja Bricelj (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.si\/gone?src=http:\/\/www.vlada.si&amp;url=http:\/\/vlada.arhiv-spletisc.gov.si\/en\/about_the_government\/ministries\/ministry_of_the_environment_and_spatial_planning\/\">State Secretary of the Slovenian Ministry of the Environment and Spatial Planning<\/a>), Mr. Adam Kovacs (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.icpdr.org\/\">International Commission for the Protection of the Danube River \u2013 ICPDR<\/a>), Ms. Venera Vlad (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ebrd.com\/home.html\">European Bank for Reconstruction and Development \u2013 EBRD<\/a>), Mr. Viktor Orozsi (EU Strategy for the Danube Region Priority Area 5), and Ms. Lu\u010dka Kajfe\u017e Bogataj (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ipcc.ch\/\">Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change \u2013 IPCC<\/a>).<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p> Feedback from experts helped refine youth proposals, which were later prepared for presentation at <strong>COP24 of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change<\/strong>, held in Katowice, Poland, in December 2018.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <strong>Youth Voices \u2192 Policy Choices<\/strong> dialogue was made possible through collaboration between <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sie-see.org\/en\/\">Solidarity Water Europe<\/a><\/strong>, <strong>Global Water Partnership Central and Eastern Europe (GWP CEE)<\/strong>, and <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/ywccee\/\">Youth Water Community Central and Eastern Europe (YWC CEE)<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Strengthening Youth Engagement in Water Management<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The Summer School emphasized youth participation in water governance and policy processes. By combining lectures, interactive exercises, and direct dialogue with decision-makers, the programme strengthened participants\u2019 ability to contribute to sustainable water management and climate
