<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jointly organised by the Global Water Partnership Central and Eastern Europe (GWP CEE) and the International Commission for the Protection of the Danube River (ICPDR), this competition encourages children to take a closer look at their local river, and to reflect on what the environment means to them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Children from all schools, NGOs, clubs, daycare centres or associations for children in the Danube Basin are invited to create original works of art for the Danube Art Master competition, which has been uniting thousands of children throughout the Danube River Basin since 2004. The aims to educates them about the river\u2019s intrinsic value and importance, while giving them a voice to comment on the future of their environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Competition Details<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Participants should be between 6 and 18 years old, from a country in the Danube basin (Germany, Austria, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Montenegro, Romania, Bulgaria, Moldova and Ukraine). The competition will has two levels: national and international. After being selected at national level, the national winner(s) will then compete at international level. The participants are encouraged to check the submission deadline with their national organiser.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Categories<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Children should go to a river-bank (ideally on the Danube or a Danube tributary) and create their environmental art, which should reflect this year’s theme “We love Danube”.  After creating their artwork, the children or teachers should take a colour photo or video of the artwork and send it to national organiser. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

At international level<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Traditionally, there are two categories: artwork and a short video, which compete at the international level.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At national level<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

This year, the national organizers have the freedom to choose among few more categories – artwork, video, song, poem, performances, which could be introduced at national level. All interested participants are encouraged to consult their national organizer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Artwork<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Children should go to a river bank, ideally the Danube or a Danube tributary and create environmental art using the materials found by the river. After creating the artwork, the children or the teacher should take a colour photo of the art and send it to national organiser. The minimum size of the digital photos is 150 DPI. Drawings and paintings will not be accepted.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Video<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The contestants are asked to create a 1-minute video, which should carry a strong message in the frame of the competition theme. The videos should be no longer than 1 minute, recorded by phone or camera, and should not be animation. The videos should be sent to the national organizer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Winner selection<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

National level<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the national level, the national organisers will judge the different forms of art. National prizes vary from country to country, and participants are encouraged to contact their country\u2019s organiser for details. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

International level<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the international level, two of the categories – the national winners\u2019 artworks and videos, will be judged by an international jury, which is composed of the national representatives of all ICPDR countries. For the judging, text or other hints as to the national artwork\u2019s nation of origin will be redacted to facilitate neutral assessment. The judges\u2019 decision is final, and the creator(s) of the chosen artwork will be crowned \u2018Danube Art Master\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Prize for the international winners<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The prize for the international winners in art and video categories is a trip to beautiful Budapest, Hungary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Employees and officers of GWP CEE and ICPDR, as well as their immediate family (defined as parents, spouse, children, siblings and grandparents) are not <\/strong>eligible to take part in the competition. Participation in the competition constitutes the winner\u2019s consent for their name and contribution picture to be made public in publications of GWP CEE and the ICPDR. GWP CEE and ICPDR reserve the right to use the photographs\/videos taken without the expressed written permission of those included within the photographs\/videos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There will be a special prize for the Most Liked artwork and video on Danube Art Master\u2019s official Facebook page<\/strong>. Only the artworks and videos submitted officially by the national organisers can compete for the Most Liked prize. The prizes can neither be exchanged nor their value paid out in cash.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
