The <\/span>goal<\/span> of Danube4ALL is to <\/span>design<\/span> a comprehensive <\/span><\/span>Restoration Action Plan for the <\/span>Danube River<\/span> basin<\/span><\/span><\/strong>.<\/strong> The <\/span>innovative<\/span> aspect of this plan is the <\/span>unprecedent <\/span>co-creation process involving various stakeholders, including the integration of citizens’ interests. <\/span>This plan will be scientifically based, <\/span>practically orientated<\/span>, and will be the result of a unique scientific, <\/span>social<\/span> and<\/span>economic based collaboration. <\/span> <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Why is it <\/span>I<\/span>mportant?<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

The need for such an initiative becomes <\/span>evident<\/span> when we consider the<\/span>challenges faced by<\/span> several<\/span> Europe’s rivers today. More than one million barriers on these rivers have severed crucial connections, leading to extensive <\/span><\/span>loss of river connectivity<\/span>. Additionally, a staggering 70-90% of Europe’s <\/span>floodplain <\/span>areas have succumbed to ecological degradation due to human alterations. Despite the existence of an <\/span>ambitious EU policy framework<\/span>, the implementation of fresh and transitional water ecosystem restoration has been <\/span>lagging behind<\/span>. The reasons for this setback include a <\/span><\/span>lack of knowledge, awareness, and active participation<\/span> of local communities and business entities.<\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n
