The purpose of the video is to provide more detailed information about the  Integrated Drought Management Programme in Central and Eastern Europe (<\/a>IDMP CEE<\/a>). It is a joint programme of the Global Water Partnership (GWP) and the World Meteorological Organization (WMO)<\/a> aiming at improving the monitoring and prevention of one of the world\u2019s biggest natural hazards.<\/p>\n

Since its launch in 2013, IDMP CEE been supporting governments in Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Hungary, Lithuania, Moldova, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia and Ukraine in the development of drought management policies and plans.<\/p>\n

Due to climate variability, there is a  growing need to improve short-term and long-term responses to meteorological, agricultural and hydrological droughts across sectors.<\/p>\n

Although most countries in the region have well-developed meteorological and hydrological monitoring, these systems do not provide efficient support to decision-makers in other sectors, such as agriculture and energy.<\/p>\n

IDMP CEE<\/a> aims to build the capacity of stakeholders at different levels to use a proactive integrated drought management approach. It also tests innovative solutions for drought management planning.<\/p>\n
