{"id":2545,"date":"2022-03-10T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2022-03-10T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/gwpo-gwp.org\/central-africa\/news\/iwd-2022-building-womens-capacity-in-agroforestry-to-tackle-climate-change\/"},"modified":"2026-05-08T16:08:36","modified_gmt":"2026-05-08T15:08:36","slug":"iwd-2022-building-womens-capacity-in-agroforestry-to-tackle-climate-change","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/gwpo-gwp.org\/central-africa\/fr\/news\/iwd-2022-building-womens-capacity-in-agroforestry-to-tackle-climate-change\/","title":{"rendered":"IWD 2022: Building women\u2019s capacity in agroforestry to tackle climate change"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The training which was organized by GWP-Cameroon\u2019s partner, <a href=\"https:\/\/sites.google.com\/view\/usfe-international\">United Voices to Serve Forest and Environment (USFE)<\/a>&nbsp;upon the request of GWP-Cameroon, aimed to showcase how agroforestry can contribute to sustainable development and climate resilience while achieving gender equality.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;In his opening speech, the Executive Director of USFE, Dieudonn\u00e9 NGUINTCHOU, said, \u201c<b>knowledge in agroforestry can contribute to reducing women\u2019s vulnerability to climate change by equipping them with the necessary expertise to promote good practices which will increase food production while building a greener tomorrow\u201d<\/b>. He added that through such training, the agroforestry sector is a step closer to meeting the 50-50 gender equality target by 2030.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"display: block; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/gwpo-gwp.org\/central-africa\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/19\/2026\/04\/whatsapp-image-2022-03-30-at-15.50.19-1.jpeg\" height=\"376\" width=\"501\"><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;The training was divided into two parts: theoretical and practical sessions. The theoretical session featured presentations on key agroforestry concepts, the relationship between agroforestry and climate change, and its contribution to environment and food security.&nbsp;&nbsp;To support USFE\u2019s work in this domain, GWP-Cameroon donated farming boots to the organization and encouraged them to keep up the good work done so far.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"display: block; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/gwpo-gwp.org\/central-africa\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/19\/2026\/04\/whatsapp-image-2022-03-30-at-15.50.24-1.jpeg\" height=\"352\" width=\"469\"><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;During the practical session, participants tried out the different vegetative propagation techniques and planted three tree species. Speaking on the training, the <a href=\"https:\/\/aipwater.org\/wacdep-g\/\">WACDEP-G <\/a>&nbsp;program coordinator, Murielle Elouga said, <b>\u201cThis is the first time GWP-Cameroon is doing something like this with one of its partners and we look forward to future interactions like these with our partners\u201d.<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"display: block; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/gwpo-gwp.org\/central-africa\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/19\/2026\/04\/whatsapp-image-2022-03-30-at-15.51.17-1.jpeg\" height=\"363\" width=\"484\"><\/b><\/p>\n<p>Participants appreciated the training and applauded USFE for the detailed, hands-on training. <b>\u201cIt was a very insightful training indeed! Now that I know all the work that goes into growing plants and trees, plus how much we humans need them, I have an even greater appreciation for them\u201d, <\/b>said Habigaelle, a GWP-CAf
