Cet exc\u00e8s de d\u00e9chets d\u00e9passe souvent la capacit\u00e9 des prestataires de services charg\u00e9s de les collecter de les traiter et de les \u00e9liminer. Pour y pallier, la population a tendance \u00e0 jeter les d\u00e9chets dans les rivi\u00e8res, contaminant ainsi les ressources en eau des grandes villes et mena\u00e7ant \u00e9ventuellement la s\u00e9curit\u00e9 de l&#8217;eau.<\/p>\n<p>Ce ph\u00e9nom\u00e8ne est visible dans la ville c\u00f4ti\u00e8re de Douala, au Cameroun. Douala \u00e9tant la capitale \u00e9conomique du Cameroun, elle a un taux d&#8217;activit\u00e9 \u00e9conomique \u00e9lev\u00e9 et une population dense. Les d\u00e9chets plastiques mal g\u00e9r\u00e9s dans cette ville contaminent le fleuve Wouri et ses affluents qui m\u00e8nent aux mers, et bloquent le syst\u00e8me de drainage de la ville, provoquant ainsi des <a href=\"https:\/\/www.letemps.ch\/monde\/cameroun-inondations-douala-saggravent-dannee-annee\">inondations urbaines<\/a> pendant les p\u00e9riodes de fortes pluies. Pour faire face \u00e0 ce probl\u00e8me, la Communaut\u00e9 urbain de Douala, membre du comit\u00e9 de pilotage du GWP-Cameroun, a demand\u00e9 l\u2019appui de ce dernier pour mettre une emphase sur la question de la gestion des d\u00e9chets plastiques.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"display: block; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/gwpo-gwp.org\/central-africa\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/19\/2026\/04\/meeting-with-stakeholder-1-1.jpeg\" height=\"452\" width=\"452\"><\/p>\n<p>Le GWP \u00e9tant membre de la <a href=\"https:\/\/siwi.org\/source-to-sea-platform\/\">plateforme de l\u2019approche Source-to-Sea (S2S<\/a>), le GWP-Cameroun travaille sur un projet Source-to-Sea pour la ville de Douala e mettant un accent sur le flux de gestion des d\u00e9chets plastiques. L&#8217;objectif du programme Source-to-Sea est d&#8217;am\u00e9liorer l&#8217;environnement favorable (institutionnel et r\u00e9glementaire) pour une gestion et un recyclage efficace des d\u00e9chets d&#8217;ici 2030. Pour r\u00e9aliser la premi\u00e8re \u00e9tape de la d\u00e9marche Source to Sea qui est le Diagnostic, les assistantes techniques du GWP-Cmr, <strong>Sima-a Bernardine<\/strong> et<strong> Nadine Fragniere<\/strong> ont effectu\u00e9 une descente sur le terrain \u00e0 Douala pour rencontrer les acteurs concern\u00e9s par la gestion des d\u00e9chets dans la ville.<\/p>\n<p>Cette mission a r\u00e9v\u00e9l\u00e9 que les flux prioritaires identifi\u00e9s dans le fleuve Wouri comprennent l&#8217;augmentation des flux polluants dus aux d\u00e9chets plastiques d&#8217;origine terrestre. La gestion inad\u00e9quate des d\u00e9chets, y compris l&#8217;absence de technologie de recyclage, sont les principaux facteurs de ces polluants plastiques dans la rivi\u00e8re. Les composantes de ce programme sont \u00e9troitement align\u00e9es avec les \u00e9tapes cl\u00e9s de l&#8217;approche de la source \u00e0 la mer.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"display: block; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/gwpo-gwp.org\/central-africa\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/19\/2026\/04\/meeting-at-hysacam-1-1.jpeg\" height=\"424\" width=\"424\"><\/p>\n<p>La cartographie des parties prenantes incluse dans l&#8217;\u00e9tape 2 de l&#8217;approche S2S a \u00e9t\u00e9 initi\u00e9e pendant la visite sur le terrain. Cette visite sur le terrain a r\u00e9v\u00e9l\u00e9 qu\u2019en plus des principaux acteurs du secteur de la collecte\/traitement des d\u00e9chets tels que <strong>HYSACAM<\/strong> et <strong>SECA<\/strong>, plusieurs ONG et soci\u00e9t\u00e9s priv\u00e9es (par exemple <strong>Les Brasseries du Cameroun<\/strong> et l&#8217;<strong>ONG belge River Clean-up<\/strong>) entreprennent des activit\u00e9s de collecte et de recyclage des d\u00e9chets plastiques le long du fleuve Wouri et de ses affluents<\/p>\n<p>Une remarque cl\u00e9 de ces visites est le fait que, bien que les parties prenantes m\u00e8nent diff\u00e9rentes actions individuelles pour g\u00e9rer les d\u00e9chets plastiques, il y a un manque de collaboration entre elles. Un point-cl\u00e9 que le projet S2S de GWP-Cameroun cherchera \u00e0 aborder.
