Restricted water would hardly sustain any more massive production of food and energy. It expected a set of solutions that consist of modules, technologies, governance skills for the challenges to SDGs regarding the water-energy-food nexus upon realities.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Water Salon was settled in an ethnic building where convened experts and practitioners from Energy Foundation, <a title=\"IUCN\" href=\"https:\/\/www.iucn.org\/\">IUCN<\/a>, <a title=\"WWF\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wwfchina.org\/\">WWF<\/a>, <a title=\"China Institute of Water Resources and Hydropower Research\" href=\"http:\/\/www.iwhr.com\/IWHR-English\/index.htm\">China Institute of Water Resources and Hydropower Research<\/a>, <a title=\"PKU\" href=\"http:\/\/english.pku.edu.cn\/\">Peking University<\/a>, <a title=\"Renmin University\" href=\"http:\/\/www.ruc.edu.cn\/en\">Renmin University<\/a>, <a title=\"Tongji University\" href=\"http:\/\/en.tongji.edu.cn\">Tongji University<\/a>, <a title=\"CWPP\" href=\"http:\/\/eng.waterpub.com.cn\/\">China Water Power Press<\/a>, <a title=\"POWER CHINA\" href=\"http:\/\/en.powerchina.cn\/\">Power Construction Corporation of China<\/a> and <a title=\"Qiaonyu Foundation\" href=\"http:\/\/www.qnfoundation.org.cn\/\/&amp;xyz=0.0377215317538222\">Qiaonyu Foundation<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/gwpo-gwp.org\/china\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2026\/04\/300.jpg\" height=\"178\" width=\"267\">&nbsp;<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/gwpo-gwp.org\/china\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2026\/04\/3002.jpg\" height=\"179\" width=\"269\"><br>&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; <strong>&nbsp; &nbsp; Prof. Dajun Shen &nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; Ms.Qiuchi Shi &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; Mr. Zhongfeng Li<\/strong><br><strong>&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; Renmin University &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; MWR &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; CWPP<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Chaired by <strong>Yunzhong Jiang<\/strong>, Regional Coordinator of GWP China and <strong>Lailai Li<\/strong>, Chief Representative of WRI China, a small group of the invited shared various academic achievements and practical experiences. As a senior to water protection, policy development, ecosystem conservation and restoration, <strong>Qiuchi Shi<\/strong> stressed the theme to be adaptive to local status. She said, \u201cThe analysis on the water-energy-food nexus should differ from one region to another upon various realism. The last expected outcomes would be overgeneralized or unrealistic measures or tools.\u201d \u201cNatural conservation is a substance to break down cities and regions\u201d, according to <strong>Yufeng Young<\/strong>, Honorary Researcher of Imperial College London &amp; Expert of Energy Policy of Asian Development Bank, \u201cbilateral interaction is decisive to the study of water-energy-food nexus modelling.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Jointly developing water knowledge productions with GWP China, the China Water Power Press (CWPP) sustained a strong backing to our events. As <strong>Zhongfeng Li<\/strong>, CWPP Vice President emphasised, \u201ctop priority to a knowledge advocator is getting \u2018the most state-of-the-art information\u2019 which appears a great opportunity and challenge to us. Water Salon is a brilliant stage to originate pioneering sense that would benefit all stakeholders.\u201d Knowledge invention was also stressed by <strong>Yan Zhang<\/strong>, Head of Programmes of IUCN. \u201cIUCN has involved in ecology and wetland prevention. They are affected by water, energy and food development. In return, an ecologic function is also crucial to the nexus of water-energy-food. Ideally, it would achieve a matching point that aids pilot areas. Unfortunately, it has barely such case studies to learn.\u201d It\u2019s echoed when he proposed developing more cases striking a balance between water, energy and food.<br>&nbsp;<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/gwpo-gwp.org\/china\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2026\/04\/3003.jpg\" height=\"178\" width=\"267\">&nbsp; <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/gwpo-gwp.org\/china\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2026\/04\/unnamed-file.jpg\" height=\"179\" width=\"276\"><br>&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;<strong> Prof.Chao Zhang,&nbsp; Tongji University &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; Dr.Jiao Wang, WRI China<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Regarding the social and economic values, <strong>Jinxia Wang<\/strong>, Professor of Advanced Agricultural Sciences, Peking University, reflected some cases that impeded water-energy-food nexus and further development. Her experiences and practices proved how difficult the government would be able to carry on policies at the local level. \u201cA trade-off between individual farmers, local departments and enterprises are overwhelming crucial which depends on the coordinative mechanism and an interest balance among stakeholders\u201d, said Prof Wang. On behalf of the private sector, <strong>Fang Dong<\/strong>, Senior Supervisor of Legal and Risk Control Department, Power Construction Corporation of China, held that PPP Module refers to sufficient leverage in the coordination of individuals, authorities and corporations.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Lijin Zhong<\/strong>, Special Assistant to President of Energy Foundation, created a harmonious and free atmosphere for the guests engaging in open discussions. Regarding \u2018water\u2019, \u2018energy\u2019 and \u2018food\u2019, <strong>Dajun Shen<\/strong> from Renmin University, <strong>Chao Zhang<\/strong> from Tongji University and <strong>Jianxin Mu<\/strong> from IWHR, shared their updated attainments. Their standpoint presented that \u2018water-energy-food nexus should be a common language for the related sectors\u2019; \u2018inland nuclear power plants might occur risks to water if we would promote a large scale of the concentrated solar power (CSP) in northwest regions\u2019; \u2018most research modules have barely conducted historical trends and seasonal variations\u2019.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/gwpo-gwp.org\/china\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2026\/04\/2.jpg\" height=\"333\" width=\"500\"><br><strong>Ping Yuan Hall, East Lake Villas<br>Water Salon Venue<br><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">According to <strong>Lailai Li<\/strong>, water-energy-food nexus reflects the unbalanced water distributions, which requires joint efforts and integrated management. In the final comments, <strong>Yunzhong Jiang<\/strong> summed up highlights of discussions. He underlined some priorities for a better nexus, including \u2018a guideline of water saving\u2019, \u2018 a spatial structure of water, energy and food\u2019, and \u2018a government-led, market-oriented and public-participated management system\u2019.
