Key stakeholders from the Mediterranean water community will gather in Tunis, the capital of Tunisia on 5-7 February 2024 to attend the 5th<\/sup> Mediterranean Water Forum \u201cWorking together for Water Sobriety\u201d. The event, offers a platform for fruitful discussions on the application of innovative solutions to changing water needs, replicating solutions to emerging global environmental challenges, promoting constructive dialogue conducive to the development of an equitable strategy for the sustainable management of water resources in the Mediterranean and placing water as a political priority at global, regional and national level. The Forum is held under the aegis of the World Water Forum and the Union for the Mediterranean and is part of the preparatory process for the 10th<\/sup> World Water Forum that will be held in Bali, Indonesia in May 18-24 2024.<\/p>\n

GWP-Med will be contributing to the Forum\u2019s key themes and discussions, through the organization of the following 4 side-events:<\/p>\n

1)     Gender Dynamics and the WEFE Nexus in the Mediterranean,<\/strong> 5 February 11:30-13:00 pm.<\/p>\n

Co-Organisers: \u2022 UfM Secretariat \u2022 Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID) \u2022 Global Water Partnership \u2013 Mediterranean (GWP-Med) \u2022 Center of Arab Women for Training and Research (CAWTAR)<\/p>\n

2)     Using system thinking to enhance Water Quality, Sustainability and Climate Resilience in the Mediterranean source-to-sea continuum \u2013 The MedProgramme<\/strong>, 5 February 11:30-13:00 pm.<\/p>\n

Organiser: The Mediterranean Sea Programme (MedProgramme): Enhancing Environmental Security (GEF ID 9607). <\/p>\n

A Global Environment Facility (GEF) regional Multi Focal Area Programmatic Approach, implemented in Albania, Algeria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Egypt, Lebanon, Libya, Montenegro, Morocco, Tunisia and Turkey. UNEP\/Mediterranean Action Plan (MAP) is the leading executing Agency; the GEF Implementing Agencies are UNEP and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and the executing partners are UNESCO\/IHP, European Investment Bank (EIB), IUCN Med, GWP Med, WWF Med, Plan Bleu, PAP\/RAC, SCP\/RAC and SPA\/RAC.<\/p>\n

3)     2nd<\/sup> Regional Roundtable on Water-Energy-Food and Ecosystems Nexus in the Mediterranean \u201cTowards a Strategy for the WEFE Nexus in the Mediterranean Source to Sea Continuum\u201d,<\/strong> 5 February 14:30-17:00 pm.<\/p>\n

Organised within the joint initiative of the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM), the UN Environment Mediterranean Action Plan (UNEP-MAP), and the European Union (EU), the side-event is organized by the Global Water Partnership – Mediterranean (GWP-Med) in the framework of the GEF UNEP\/MAP MedProgramme <\/span>Child Project 2.2<\/a> on WEFE Nexus in cooperation with the \u201cEU WES in the ENI Southern Neighbourhood region\u201d Project and the PRIMA Foundation.<\/span><\/p>\n

4) Transformative Water Resources Management, Smart and Resilient Solutions for Climate Change across the Mediterranean,<\/strong> 5 February, 14:00-15:30 pm.<\/p>\n

Organised jointly by the following EU projects: Acquaount, Talanoa, Transcend<\/p>\n

Les principaux acteurs de la communaut\u00e9 m\u00e9diterran\u00e9enne de l’eau se r\u00e9uniront \u00e0 Tunis, la capitale de la Tunisie, du 5 au 7 f\u00e9vrier 2024 pour assister au 5e Forum m\u00e9diterran\u00e9en de l’eau “Ensemble pour une sobri\u00e9t\u00e9 hydrique partag\u00e9e”. L’\u00e9v\u00e9nement offre une plateforme pour des discussions fructueuses sur l’application de solutions innovantes \u00e0 l’\u00e9volution des besoins en eau, la reproduction de solutions aux d\u00e9fis environnementaux mondiaux \u00e9mergents, la promotion d’un dialogue constructif propice \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9laboration d’une strat\u00e9gie \u00e9quitable pour la gestion durable des ressources en eau en M\u00e9diterran\u00e9e et le placement de l’eau en tant que priorit\u00e9 politique aux niveaux mondial, r\u00e9gional et national. Le Forum est organis\u00e9 sous l’\u00e9gide du Forum mondial de l’eau et de l’Union pour la M\u00e9diterran\u00e9e et fait partie du processus pr\u00e9paratoire du 10\u00e8me Forum mondial de l’eau qui se tiendra \u00e0 Bali, en Indon\u00e9sie, du 18 au 24 mai 2024. <\/p>\n

GWP-Med contribuera aux th\u00e8mes et discussions cl\u00e9s du Forum, \u00e0 travers l’organisation des 4 \u00e9v\u00e9nements parall\u00e8les suivants :<\/p>\n

1) Dynamiques de Genre et le Nexus Eau-\u00c9nergie-Alimentation-\u00c9cosyst\u00e8mes (WEFE) en M\u00e9diterran\u00e9e<\/strong> : le 5 f\u00e9vrier de 11h30 \u00e0 13h00 ;<\/p>\n

2) Utilisation d\u2019une pens\u00e9e syst\u00e9mique pour am\u00e9liorer la qualit\u00e9 de l’eau, de la durabilit\u00e9 et de la r\u00e9silience climatique dans le continuum source-mer de la M\u00e9diterran\u00e9enne \u2013 Le Programme Med<\/strong> : le 5 f\u00e9vrier de 11h30 \u00e0 13h00 ;<\/p>\n

Une r\u00e9gionale multidomaine d’intervention du Fonds pour l’environnement mondial (FEM), mise en \u0153uvre en Albanie, en Alg\u00e9rie, en Bosnie-Herz\u00e9govine, en \u00c9gypte, au Liban, en Libye, au Mont\u00e9n\u00e9gro, au Maroc, en Tunisie et en Turquie. Le PNUE\/Plan d’action pour la M\u00e9diterran\u00e9e (PAM) est l’agence d’ex\u00e9cution principale ; les agences d’ex\u00e9cution du FEM sont le PNUE et la Banque europ\u00e9enne pour la reconstruction et le d\u00e9veloppement (BERD) et les partenaires d’ex\u00e9cution sont l’UNESCO\/PHI, la Banque europ\u00e9enne d’investissement (BEI), l’UICN Med, le GWP Med, le WWF Med, le Plan Bleu, le CAR\/PAP, le CAR\/SCP et le CAR\/ASP.<\/p>\n

3) 2\u00e8me<\/sup> Table ronde r\u00e9gionale sur le Nexus Eau-\u00c9nergie-Alimentation-\u00c9cosyst\u00e8mes (WEFE) en M\u00e9diterran\u00e9e \u2018\u2019Vers une strat\u00e9gie pour le nexus WEFE dans le continuum source-mer de la M\u00e9diterran\u00e9e\u2019\u2019<\/strong> : le 5 f\u00e9vrier de 14h30 \u00e0 17h00 ;<\/p>\n

Organis\u00e9 dans le cadre de l’initiative conjointe de l’Union pour la M\u00e9diterran\u00e9e (UpM), du Plan d’action pour la M\u00e9diterran\u00e9e de l’ONU Environnement (UNEP-MAP) et de l’Union europ\u00e9enne (UE), l’ \u00e9v\u00e9nement est organis\u00e9 par le Global Water Partnership-Mediterranean (GWP-Med) dans le cadre du GEF UNEP\/MAP MedProgramme Child Project 2.2 on WEFE Nexus en coop\u00e9ration avec le projet “EU WES in the ENI Southern Neighbourhood region” et la Fondation PRIMA.<\/p>\n
