{"id":3841,"date":"2014-12-09T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2014-12-09T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/gwpo-gwp.org\/mediterranean\/news\/the-economics-of-adaptation-water-security-and-climate-resilient-development-capacity-building-in-the-framework-of-the-wacdep-programme\/"},"modified":"2026-05-08T15:37:14","modified_gmt":"2026-05-08T14:37:14","slug":"the-economics-of-adaptation-water-security-and-climate-resilient-development-capacity-building-in-the-framework-of-the-wacdep-programme","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/gwpo-gwp.org\/mediterranean\/news\/the-economics-of-adaptation-water-security-and-climate-resilient-development-capacity-building-in-the-framework-of-the-wacdep-programme\/","title":{"rendered":"\u201cThe Economics of Adaptation, Water Security and Climate Resilient Development\u201d: Capacity Building in the Framework of the WACDEP Programme"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>While the first workshop training focused on providing participants with the tools to understand the issues related to Integrated Water Resources Management and Climate change &#8211; including the institutional landscape linked to water security and climate resilient development at both national and local level, this 2<sup>nd <\/sup>workshop aimed to equip participants with the appropriate tools to identify and appraise investment options that enhance water security for climate resilient growth.<\/p>\n<p>The capacity building program \u201cThe Economics of Adaptation, Water Security and Climate Resilient Development\u201d targets a group of 19 participants involved in water management processes and development planning in Tunisia, including representatives from national and local authorities &#8211; Ministry of Agriculture and Water Resources, Ministry of Equipment, Planning and Sustainable Development, Ministry of Economy and Finance, Ministry of Transportation &#8211; NGOs and independent experts fully engaged in actions related to water issues and resilience to climate change.<\/p>\n<p>The 2<sup>nd<\/sup> day of the workshop included a field visit to the Barbra Dam in the North West of Tunisia, aimed to offer the participants the opportunity to discuss on the vulnerability of water resources due to the climate change at the watershed level, as well as on the infrastructure and policy measures taken to strengthen water basin security and resilience to climate change.
