Awareness in Bangladesh"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>To look at these issues, 63 participants attended a workshop on \u201cGender Awareness &amp; Networking on Integrated Water Resources Management at Basin Level\u201d on 28 November 2012.<\/p>\n<p>The workshop was organized by the Center for Environmental and Geographic Information Services (CEGIS), Bangladesh Women &amp; Water Network (BWWN), and GWP Bangladesh in Shunamganj under the auspices of the Surma Area Water Partnership<\/p>\n<h2>A presentation on the \u201cIWRM Concepts &amp; its Application:&nbsp; Bangladesh Perspective\u201d outlined:<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Definition &amp; Concepts of IWRM<\/li>\n<li>Why IWRM? <\/li>\n<li>Integration of IWRM in Various Sector <\/li>\n<li>Chronological History of IWRM <\/li>\n<li>Principles of IWRM<\/li>\n<li>Driving Forces &amp; Challenges of IWRM <\/li>\n<li>Water Management System in Bangladesh&nbsp; <\/li>\n<li>Future challenges, prospects &amp; vision of IWRM <\/li>\n<li>Lessons learned<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>A paper on \u201cMainstreaming Gender on IWRM\u201d presented:<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Gender Concepts<\/li>\n<li>Gender &amp; Development: Role of Government of Bangladesh <\/li>\n<li>Gender &amp; Water: Government\u2019s Policy<\/li>\n<li>Concept of IWRM and application of Gender<\/li>\n<li>Women\u2019s employment for Economic Development<\/li>\n<li>Important issues to ensure women\u2019s active participation and development<\/li>\n<li>Gender, Water &amp; Networking<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;-<\/p>\n<p>Gender was in focus when a GWP delegation participated in the \u201cInternational Conference on Fresh Water Governance for Sustainable Development\u201d in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, on 5-7 November 2012. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gwp.org\/en\/gwp-in-action\/Events\/Gender-in-Focus-for-GWP-at-International-Freshwater-Conference\/\">Read reports from the event
