Over 50 participants attended and a core recommendation of the Dialogue was to establish strong coordination arrangements to access and share hydrological data and on water and climate change related issues. While there is an Integrated Water Policy with clear recommendations on drought and flood management, there has been a lack of political commitment. In November 2010, GWP Sri Lanka organised a Climate Change Adaptation National Dialogue, a joint activity with the Centre for Climate Change Studies of the Department of Meteorology, the Disaster Management Centre, and the Ministry of Disaster Management.
