{"id":2164,"date":"2025-08-06T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2025-08-05T23:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/gwpo-gwp.org\/southeast-asia\/news\/malaysia-prepares-for-the-2026-sdg-6-5-1-integrated-water-resources-management-reporting\/"},"modified":"2026-05-08T15:56:34","modified_gmt":"2026-05-08T14:56:34","slug":"malaysia-prepares-for-the-2026-sdg-6-5-1-integrated-water-resources-management-reporting","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/gwpo-gwp.org\/southeast-asia\/news\/malaysia-prepares-for-the-2026-sdg-6-5-1-integrated-water-resources-management-reporting\/","title":{"rendered":"Malaysia Prepares for the 2026 SDG 6.5.1 Integrated Water Resources Management Reporting"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p data-start=\"713\" data-end=\"980\">In collaboration with the <strong data-start=\"739\" data-end=\"777\">Malaysian Water Partnership (MyWP)<\/strong>, DID convened a <strong data-start=\"794\" data-end=\"850\">national consultation and capacity-building workshop<\/strong> on <strong data-start=\"854\" data-end=\"873\">4\u20135 August 2025<\/strong> at <strong data-start=\"877\" data-end=\"904\">Ibis KLCC, Kuala Lumpur<\/strong>, to support Malaysia\u2019s preparation for the upcoming 2026 reporting cycle.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"982\" data-end=\"1025\"><strong data-start=\"982\" data-end=\"993\">SDG 6.5<\/strong> comprises two key indicators:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"1026\" data-end=\"1238\">\n<li data-start=\"1026\" data-end=\"1120\">\n<p data-start=\"1028\" data-end=\"1120\"><strong data-start=\"1028\" data-end=\"1048\">Indicator 6.5.1:<\/strong> Degree of integrated water resources management (IWRM) implementation<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1121\" data-end=\"1238\">\n<p data-start=\"1123\" data-end=\"1238\"><strong data-start=\"1123\" data-end=\"1143\">Indicator 6.5.2:<\/strong> Proportion of transboundary basin area with an operational arrangement for water cooperation<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"1240\" data-end=\"1447\">The SDG 6.5 report is submitted every <strong data-start=\"1278\" data-end=\"1293\">three years<\/strong>, with <strong data-start=\"1300\" data-end=\"1316\">DID Malaysia<\/strong> responsible for compiling and coordinating the national assessment. The <strong data-start=\"1389\" data-end=\"1404\">next report<\/strong> is scheduled for submission in <strong data-start=\"1436\" data-end=\"1444\">2026<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h3 data-start=\"1449\" data-end=\"1476\"><strong data-start=\"1453\" data-end=\"1476\">Workshop Objectives<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul data-start=\"1477\" data-end=\"1766\">\n<li data-start=\"1477\" data-end=\"1555\">\n<p data-start=\"1479\" data-end=\"1555\">To provide information on the <strong data-start=\"1509\" data-end=\"1553\">SDG 6.5 indicator assessment methodology<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1556\" data-end=\"1675\">\n<p data-start=\"1558\" data-end=\"1675\">To explain the <strong data-start=\"1573\" data-end=\"1605\">role of state-level agencies<\/strong> in supporting the preparation of the <strong data-start=\"1643\" data-end=\"1673\">SDG 6.5.1 indicator report<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1676\" data-end=\"1766\">\n<p data-start=\"1678\" data-end=\"1766\">To <strong data-start=\"1681\" data-end=\"1705\">collect current data<\/strong> from state agencies relevant to the <strong data-start=\"1742\" data-end=\"1766\">SDG 6.5.1 assessment<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Malaysia is required to report on its progress toward achieving the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to the United Nations (UN).
