Meetings with a focus on Africa; such as \u201cThe key to sustainable growth: Mainstreaming climate resilient infrastructure\u201d and the session on the session on \u201cAfrica water and sanitation monitoring: Informing policy, tracking progress\u201d \u2013 were co-convened by SADC and AMCOW respectively. The former looked at action is required to ensure that planned infrastructure which plays a crucial role in development is climate resilient given that the impacts of climate change are already being felt.<\/p>\n

Michael Ramaano was a panellist in a session \u201cTelling your story to make an impact on the ground\u201d, the session looked bridging the gap between research and practice. Mr. Ramaano specifically looked at ways in which WACDEP has been able to target various audiences.<\/p>\n

The seminar on \u201cWater as a driver for sustainable growth\u201d explore questions such as: Are growth opportunities foregone because of poor water management? Which policies and incentives can manage water so that it drives sustainable growth? How can monitoring the SDGs best capture the link between water management and sustainable growth?<\/p>\n

GWP also participated in a number of sessions in line with its work programme. These included addressing the implementation of inter-related SDGs (water, energy and food). The various sessions fed into the theme on \u201cWater for Sustainable Growth\u201d, hence addressing sustainable growth for all by focusing on inclusiveness in terms of the societal and human dimensions in all regions of the world. The event also looked at critical focus areas on the new climate agreement.<\/p>\n
