{"id":4147,"date":"2015-08-11T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2015-08-10T23:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/gwpo-gwp.org\/southern-africa\/news\/nap-process-launched-in-tanzania\/"},"modified":"2026-05-08T16:13:14","modified_gmt":"2026-05-08T15:13:14","slug":"nap-process-launched-in-tanzania","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/gwpo-gwp.org\/southern-africa\/news\/nap-process-launched-in-tanzania\/","title":{"rendered":"NAP Process Launched in Tanzania"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Tanzania\u2019s NAP process will enable stakeholders to formulate and implement national adaptation plans (NAPs) as a means of identifying medium and long-term adaptation needs and developing and implementing strategies and programmes to address those needs. It is a continuous, progressive and iterative process which follows a country-driven, gender-sensitive, participatory and fully transparent approach. It builds on Tanzania\u2019s climate change strategy by focusing specifically on adaptation issues.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;The specific workshop objectives were to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Enhance participants understanding of the NAP process according to the UNFCCC\/LEG technical guidelines (referring to Tanzania\u2019s existing work contributing to the process); <\/li>\n<li>Ensure coordinated, participation of relevant agencies&nbsp; by discussing roles, as well as institutional needs for supporting the integration of medium- and long-term climate change adaptation into existing national, sectoral&nbsp; and local government planning and processes;<\/li>\n<li>Update Tanzania\u2019s roadmap to operationalize the NAP process.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;The event was organised by the Office of the Vice President in Tanzania with support from UNDP and GWP. More than 50 participants actively participated in the 3 day event. The participants were mainly drawn from government ministries, NAP-GSP partners, Civil Society as well as bilateral and multi-lateral agencies.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Global Water Partnership Southern Africa (GWPSA) and the Tanzania Water Partnership were engaged in a National Multi-Stakeholder \u2013 National Adaptation Plan (NAP) Training Workshop from 8-10th July, 2015. The training was held at Stella Maris Hotel, Bagamoyo. The goal of this three day work-shop was to launch Tanzania\u2019s NAP as well as to develop a common understanding of the issues that need to be addressed on the way
