For the first time in over 20 years, the Global Water Partnership Organisation (GWPO) is opening its intergovernmental Memorandum of Understanding (MoU)—a historic opportunity—for new States and Governments to join the Intergovernmental Organisation.
This is more than membership — it’s an invitation to co-steer a global alliance driving water investments, climate resilience, and sustainable development through international cooperation.
On 14 May, during an extraordinary meeting of GWPO’s Sponsoring Partners, Alex Simalabwi, CEO of GWPO & Executive Secretary of GWP, presented the United Call for Global Water Investment Leadership. Countries including Sweden, the Netherlands, Hungary, Pakistan, and the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) welcomed the Call, urging more governments to join GWPO. This historic opportunity is part of the Global Transformation Agenda on Water Investments.
MoU Signature Opens: 2 June 2025
Governments are invited to sign the MoU at any of the following diplomatic locations:
- Stockholm, Sweden
- Pretoria, South Africa
- Geneva, Switzerland
