Ecosystems and Nature-Based Solutions

Healthy water-related ecosystems are key to water security, sustainable development, and climate resilience.

From protecting and restoring natural ecosystems to deploying nature-based solutions, the sustainability of ecosystems has been, from the start, an integral part of integrated water resources management. It remains more than ever crucial for equitable and sustainable development.

GWP acting for healthy ecosystems and nature-based solutions

Ecosystems preservation and restoration and nature-based solutions are at the forefront of a number of GWP interventions, spanning a broad spectrum of approaches: support to regional, national, and basin policy-making and planning, multi-stakeholder consultations and advocacy, capacity development and knowledge sharing, partnership building, and community-level interventions.
