Following its inaugural meeting on 14 October 2026, the Global Water Partnership Zambia (GWP Zambia) introduced its new Executive Committee for the 2026–2028 term. The Committee is led by Ms Misozi Ngulube, Director General of the Water Resources Management Authority (WARMA), as Chairperson.

The Committee brings together representatives from key institutions across Zambia’s water, sanitation, environment, agriculture, gender, community development, tourism, media and academic sectors. It will provide strategic leadership and strengthen the organisation’s contribution to water security and sustainable development.

Under Ms Ngulube’s leadership, the Committee will provide strategic guidance and oversight, strengthen institutional governance, mobilise resources and expand partnerships to advance integrated water resources management.

Its priorities include improving financial sustainability, increasing private sector engagement and supporting initiatives that strengthen water security and climate resilience. The Committee will also work with national stakeholders to promote coordinated responses to Zambia’s water-related development challenges and advance sustainable water management.

Emphasising the importance of collaboration and collective action, Ms Misozi Ngulube, GWP Zambia Chairperson, reaffirmed the partnership’s commitment to inclusive and sustainable water management.

The Executive Committee comprises:

• Ms Eda Chimya – Treasurer, representing the Zambia Alliance of Women and the Gender and Youth College.

• Mr Micho Owen – Executive Committee Member, representing the Lusaka Water Supply and Sanitation Council and the Water Supply College.

• Ms Shula Kasongamulilo – Executive Committee Member, representing the Centre for Water, Sanitation and Rehabilitation and the Community College.

• Mr Muyaka Kamamba – Executive Committee Member, representing Blue Green Water Guardians and the Tourism College.

• Mr Kenneth Sinachikopo – Executive Committee Member, representing the Zambia Meteorological Department and the Environment College.

• Ms Nelia Phiri – Executive Committee Member, representing the Ministry of Agriculture and the Agriculture College.

• Ms Margaret Samulela – Executive Committee Member, representing the Zambia Daily Mail and the Media College.

• One representative, to be confirmed, from the University of Zambia, representing the Academic and Research College.

This diverse membership reflects GWP Zambia’s multi-stakeholder approach to integrated water resources management.

The Global Water Partnership Southern Africa (GWPSA) plays an important regional role in supporting Country Water Partnerships (CWPs), including GWP Zambia. Through regional coordination, technical assistance, knowledge exchange, capacity strengthening and partnership development, GWPSA helps CWPs improve their institutional effectiveness and contribute to national water security priorities. This support also creates opportunities to connect country-level priorities with regional initiatives, including the Africa Water Investment Programme, and to strengthen advocacy for investment in water, sanitation and climate-resilient development.

The new Executive Committee assumes its responsibilities at a critical time, as Zambia works to address the effects of climate change on water resources, strengthen water security and mobilise investment for sustainable water management. By fostering collaboration among government institutions, development partners, civil society, academia, the private sector and local communities, GWP Zambia—with support from GWPSA and the wider GWP network—will continue to promote coordinated action towards national and regional water security objectives.

GWP Zambia congratulates the incoming Committee and looks forward to a productive 2026–2028 term marked by stronger governance, effective partnerships and impactful programmes that contribute to sustainable development.
