Zimbabwe Country Water Partnership

Zimbabwe CWP works with national, regional and global partners to advance sustainable water resources management, guided by the principles of inclusiveness, transparency, accountability, equity and solidarity. 

Mission

To promote collaboration and the sustainable utilisation and management of Zimbabwe’s water resources through knowledge exchange, shared experience and the practice of IWRM. 

Goal 

To facilitate the coordinated development and management of water, land, forestry, wetlands while maximising social and economic welfare without compromising vital ecosystems.  

Objectives

Zimbabwe CWP aims to:

Foster coordination and collaboration among national water sector partners. 
Promote sustainable utilisation, protection, conservation and management of water and environmental resources in line with community priorities, national policies and Vision 2030.
Support the review of water related policies and programmes and identify opportunities to strengthen IWRM. 
Strengthen communication, knowledge sharing and dissemination of best practices. 
Support IWRM action at local, national and transboundary levels.
Promote capacity building and awareness, with attention to gender, youth and marginalised groups. 
Encourage joint programming and augment national efforts in water resources planning, development and management.  
Encourage and support research, information sharing and the exchange of experiences in water resources planning, development and management.  

Partnership 

The Zimbabwe CWP is open to institutions operating in Zimbabwe with an interest in water resources management. Partners include government institutions, River Basin Organisations, water authorities, Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs), community-based organisations, academic and research institutions, development partners and the private sector.  

Through the Partnership, members can connect, share knowledge and experience, contribute to programmes and strategic priorities, and participate in national, regional and global IWRM initiatives.
