Who we are

The water resource management challenges are regional and country specific and their solutions are not always common. By recognizing that, GWP promoted the Regional Water Partnerships and the initial step of the initiative is the formulation of a technical advisory committee called South Asia Technical Advisory Committee (SASTAC) in 1998 engaging five countries in the region, Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.

In 2002, GWP SAS received the accreditation as a Regional Water Partnership of GWPO and became a working partnership among organisations concerned with water resources. GWP SAS provides a neutral platform that connects stakeholders at all levels and provides a platform for countries in South Asia to drive water investments and governance reforms that build climate resilience, advance sustainable development, and strengthen cooperation across sectors and borders.
