The UN World Water Development Report in China

In close collaboration with UNESCO and the China Water & Power Press, GWP China has played a pivotal role in developing and publishing the Chinese version of this authoritative annual report.

This long-term partnership has established a crucial knowledge bridge for Chinese readers, including policymakers, researchers, and the public, providing them with systematic access to global insights on water resources aligned with each year’s UN World Water Day theme. The translation and adaptation process itself strengthens the Association’s role as a “knowledge messenger” and forms a dynamic platform that gathers diverse partners from the water sector.

The Chinese version of the WWDR shares valuable knowledge and international best practices, aiming to inform and stimulate action within China.

Beyond translation, this project’s sustained impact lies in its role as a trusted knowledge hub, its function as a convening platform for cross-sectoral dialogue, and its demonstration of the Association’s enduring commitment to sharing cutting-edge global knowledge with a Chinese audience—a commitment that continues with the translation of executive summaries, such as that of the 2026 report, to this day.
