The GWP-Med Secretariat has the overall responsibility for the coordination and day-to-day function of GWP-Med. It implements the oganisation’s annual Work Plan corresponding to GWP’s Strategy and manages all GWP-Med initiatives, programmes and projects. It is also responsible for the organisation’s outreach activities, and for promoting collaborations and synergies with other organisations, institutes and processes active in the Mediterranean.
The GWP-Med Head Office is based in Athens with an antenna Office in Tunis and Podgorica, as well as staff based in Amman, Beirut and Ohrid.
Following GWP modalities, GWP-Med is hosted and legally represented by the Mediterranean Information Office for Environment, Culture and Sustainable Development (MIO-ECSDE), a non-profit civil society organisation with Mediterranean scope, under the Greek Law. A Host Institute Agreement between GWP-Med, GWPO and MIO-ECSDE governs modalities.
