Africa Water Investment Support Programme to Water, Climate, Development and Gender(AIP WACDEP-G)

Gender Equality through Climate Resilient Water Investment in Uganda and Eastern Africa

GWPEAf is implementing the “Africa Water Investment Support Program to Water, Climate, Development and Gender” (AIP-WACDEP-G) programme in Uganda, focusing on the Maziba Catchment, which encompasses the districts of Kabale, Rubanda, and Rukiga

The program, which is being implemented by GWPEAf together with the Ministry of Water and Environment in Uganda, Uganda Water Partnership, and funded by the Austrian Development Agency, aims at achieving Gender Equality through climate-resilient development of Water Infrastructure investments in Uganda.  This program seeks to transform gender inequalities and systemic barriers in institutional structures, systems, and policy, specific power imbalances, access to services, control of resources, and assets at the local level by promoting gender-transformative planning, decision-making, and institutional development for climate-resilient water investments and job creation.

The goal of the AIP-WACDEP-G is to ensure that the preparation, development, design, governance, and management of ongoing and new climate-resilient water infrastructure investments, institutions, and job creation interventions strategically advance gender equality. The overall objective is to transform gender inequalities at scale by promoting gender-transformative planning, decision-making, and institutional development for climate-resilient water investments and job creation in Africa.
