DRESS-EA

Strengthening Drought Resilience for Smallholder Farmers and Pastoralists in the IGAD Region (DRESS-EA)

Building Climate Resilience in the Horn of Africa

The Horn of Africa is one of the most drought-prone regions globally. Recurrent and prolonged droughts have intensified food insecurity, degraded ecosystems, and undermined the livelihoods of millions of smallholder farmers and pastoralists whose survival depends on rain-fed agriculture and livestock production.
To address these escalating challenges, the Sahara and Sahel Observatory (OSS), in collaboration with Global Water Partnership Eastern Africa (GWP-EA) and the governments of Djibouti, Kenya, Sudan, and Uganda, is implementing the DRESS-EA Project – Strengthening Drought Resilience for Smallholder Farmers and Pastoralists in the IGAD Region.
Funded by the Adaptation Fund with a total investment of USD 13 million, DRESS-EA adopts a coordinated regional approach to drought risk management, strengthening the capacity of institutions and communities to anticipate, prepare for, and respond to drought impacts.
