Global Water Partnership Central and Eastern Europe (GWP CEE) has a long-standing cooperation with the International Commission for the Protection of the Danube River (ICPDR), supporting transboundary water governance and integrated river basin management in the Danube River Basin
GWP CEE is an Observer to ICPDR and contributes as a member of ICPDR expert groups, including Hydromorphology (HYMO), River Basin Management Planning (RBMP), and Public Participation, providing expertise in integrated water resources management, stakeholder engagement, and policy dialogue. An important pillar of this cooperation is GWP CEE’s long-term involvement in the coordination of the Danube Art Master, strengthening education, awareness raising, and public engagement on water protection.
In previous planning cycles, GWP CEE supported the facilitation of public consultations, helping to ensure inclusive and meaningful stakeholder participation. More recently, GWP CEE has been involved in planning processes related to drought management, contributing to the identification of challenges and recommendations for future action in the context of climate change adaptation.
Through its cooperation with the ICPDR, GWP CEE strengthens the link between strategic planning and implementation and promotes cross-sectoral integration to support climate change adaptation and disaster risk reduction.
