Duration : 2024-2025
Funding mechanism : Interreg Danube Programme
Status: Completed project
Short project description: The DANUrely-WS project aims to empower youth in the Danube Region to contribute to water security, resilience, and sustainable water management. It builds youth leadership, knowledge, and skills to address challenges such as water quality, climate change, and river transport, while creating platforms for meaningful youth participation in decision-making. As a Seed Money Facility project, DANUrely-WS also prepares the ground for new funding opportunities by developing ideas, partnerships and project concepts for future larger-scale initiatives.
Project objectives:
- Analyse and better understand the needs, challenges and expectations of young people in the water sector in the Danube Region;
- Develop a joint workplan for a future larger-scale youth project;
- Map relevant funding opportunities and programmes to support follow-up actions;
- Strengthen partnerships and cooperation among organisations working with youth and water management across the region
Role of GWP CEE in the project: GWP CEE acted as the Lead Partner of DANUrely-WS, coordinating the partnership and guiding the overall implementation of the project. It organised key youth engagement activities, including a regional workshop and a stakeholder roundtable in Bratislava, bringing together young professionals, experts and institutions from across the Danube Region. GWP CEE also led the analytical work of the project, including needs assessment, funding mapping, and the preparation of a joint workplan. Through these activities, it helped build a community of practice and laid the foundation for new fundraising and follow-up project development in the youth and water sectors.
