Short project description: The Water Agent project aimed to strengthen environmental education at primary level by introducing water management topics to primary school students in the Czech Republic, Hungary and Slovakia. The main output of the project was an interactive teacher’s manual that provides teachers with methodologies, games, and activities for teaching topics such as water in the home, in the city, and in the countryside.

Project objectives:

  • Introduce the topic of water management and water governance into the education of primary school students.
  • Raise awareness among children and their families about the importance of water, sustainable consumption, and environmental challenges (drought, water resources).
  • Support teachers through practical and interactive materials that they can integrate into the regular school curriculum.

The role of GWP CEE in the project: The Global Water Partnership Central and Eastern Europe (GWP CEE) was one of the main partners of the Water Agent V003 project, together with IREAS (CZ) and IMRO (HU). GWP CEE actively participated in the coordination of international cooperation between the partners, brought its technical expertise in the field of water management and contributed to the creation of teaching materials with an emphasis on water in the country and environmental contexts. GWP CEE also helped to test and validate the content of the teacher manual in pilot schools in the region and ensured its availability in national languages.
